Suspended Axis Variation II

2026

Suspended Axis II brings together two different forms of connection: one in which the ceramic contains the transparent glass section, and another in which the form continues through it.

The piece functions both as a sculptural object and as a source of light. It continues my material research into combining two materials that behave in opposite ways: ceramic shrinks in the heat of the kiln, while glass expands as it is blown. Through the meeting of glass, water and light, the work asks: how can transparency change the way we see and experience familiar objects?
